Minister: Russian govt works on getting GAZ out of sanctions

SOCHI, Feb 15 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is still working taking car producer GAZ Group from under the U.S. sanctions, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters late on Thursday.

“We are working on that,” he said.

In April 2018, the U.S. introduced sanctions against several Russian companies and individuals, including tycoon Oleg Deripaska and the companies he controlled – multi-industry holding En+ Group, aluminum giant UC RUSAL, power producer EuroSibEnergo, and GAZ Group that he controls through Russian Machines among other companies.

In late January 2019, Washington lifted its sanctions from RUSAL, En+ Group, and EuroSibEnergo after Deripaska reduced his stake in the company to below 44.95% and stopped managing the company thorugh the board of directors. But the personal sanctions against Deripaska, and sanctions against GAZ Group are still in force.
